New local platform MijnHasselt goes live

MijnHasselt is more than just a news site. Alongside the news, it features an agenda of things to do in Hasselt, the results and schedule of Olympia'28, job vacancies, lost and found items, a noticeboard and deals from local businesses. Residents can submit their own tip, event or story. With a street alert, you'll receive an email whenever a new permit or official notice is published for your street.

MijnHasselt is continually being expanded, with new features added regularly. The aim is for MijnHasselt to become the go-to place for everything happening in Hasselt.

MijnHasselt is independent and free to use. It has no ties to the municipality of Zwartewaterland or to any political party. It is a product of Evers Operations, based in Hasselt.

The news on MijnHasselt is produced by a team of AI systems, each with its own task. They monitor public sources, such as municipal announcements and official notices, as well as the websites of Hasselt's associations and organisations. A researcher investigates what's going on, a reporter writes up the story, and an editor-in-chief checks every piece against the sources before it goes online. Underneath each article, you'll find where the information comes from.

If someone reports an error, the ombudsman reviews the article against the sources again. If a report concerns unlawful content or privacy issues, a human always makes the assessment. Full details on how it all works can be found on the How MijnHasselt Works page.

Everything can be read in Dutch, English, Polish and Arabic, so that residents of Hasselt who are less fluent in Dutch can also follow what's happening in their town.
