The first meeting takes place on Tuesday 29 September from 16:00 to 17:30 at 't Olde Staduus in Genemuiden. This is followed on Monday 5 October by a meeting from 19:30 to 21:00 in the waiting area of the AHOED in Hasselt. The third meeting is on Tuesday 27 October from 16:00 to 17:30 at De Sluuspoort in Zwartsluis.
At the meetings, residents will get information on what they can do themselves to prevent falls, what to look out for, and which options suit them. There will also be room for questions.
Anyone who wants to know whether they have an increased risk of falling can take a free online test at beweegzeker.nl. If the risk is found to be increased, people can join a fall prevention programme that works on balance, strength and confidence in moving. For residents aged 65 and older, this programme is reimbursed.
Alderman Alijn Muijsers: "Prevention is better than cure. And it doesn't have to be difficult at all."
